Sansa Stark may have finally reclaimed her home of Winterfell, but don’t expect season 7 to get any easier for the Game of Thrones fan-favorite character.
Actress Sophie Turner teased Sansa’s storyline in the upcoming season to EW, noting her character’s growing confidence after surviving – and defeating – Ramsay Bolton last season has a bit of a setback, even as her influence rises in the North.
“She’s seemingly in control for the first time – and it really suits her,” Turner says. “She’s kind of having a bit of a power trip. But she’s also becoming more insecure because there are threats to the power that she holds.”
Overall, the seven-episode penultimate season feels like the Emmy-winning drama is “ramping up” for the 2018’s presumed final season, she adds.
“What overall excites me about this season is that main characters are coming together and it feels like things are ramping up,” says the X-Men: Apocalypse star. “It’s really exciting and all feels like it’s coming to a big conclusion.”
Game of Thrones doesn’t return for its seventh season until summer 2017 on HBO. But in two weeks, Golden Globes nominations will be announced; Turner, whose season 6 work many critics hailed as her best yet, is among the contenders for a possible nomination.
