The super girls who made the nation proud had their best moments of life when Sachin Tendulkar felicitated them and gifted brand new BMW cars in Hyderabad.
All the three Olympians and the cricketing legend along with national badminton coach Pullela Gopichand came together under one roof at P. Gopichand Nimmagadda Prasad Badminton Academy at Hyderabad where Tendulkar gifted swanky BMWs to PV Sindhu, Sakshi Malik, Dipa Karmakar and Gopichand.
The luxury cars were provided by Hyderabad District Badminton Association, President Chamundeshwarnath to the four sportspersons for their outstanding achievement.
Chamundeshwarnath roped in Sachin Tendulkar, the goodwill ambassador of Indian contingent at Rio Olympics, to hand over the keys at a function on Sunday morning.
Under the guidance of chief coach Gopichand, Sindhu had clinched the silver medal in women’s singles, while Sakshi had bagged the bronze in women’s freestyle wrestling. Dipa missed a medal by a whisker, finishing fourth in the vault final.
Thanking for the gift, Sakshi requested Tendulkar for a family photograph while Dipa and Sindhu too expressed their joy and thanked the little master for his gesture.
Speaking on the occasion Gopichand said:
“It is not ‘save the girl child’ but ‘saved by the girl child,'” referring to India’s pride being saved by the three girls in Rio.”
